Another busy day.

  • Grocery shopping done at Target
  • made salsa
  • emptied and refilled the dishwasher
Still more to get done, but I have no idea when it will get done.

Friday 1/29 - Part 2

Well, I found some motivation. But only enough to get a few things done. Like the laundry. All finished. Then I spent way too much time on the computer and updating the family blog (you can get here from there but not there from here!). Playing with pictures of the Monkeys in the snow and getting stuff ready for a sad post about a favorite pluffy dress we are going to have to say a sad goodbye to.

So I brushed my teeth twice today, finished the laundry, and made dinner. RS shoveled the driveway, again, this time with the Monkeys' "help", emptied the dishwasher, and was an all around wonderful person and helped a neighbor shovel her driveway.

It was a wonderful snow day and I'm happy to have been able to spend the day with my Monkeys, even if they don't respect the clean house I strive for. They did clean up, maybe not to my exacting standards, but they did clean up. When told to do so by a menacing RS.

Friday 1/29

Where am I? What am I doing? And who are these Monkeys who will not leave me alone?

For those of you who are not in Kansas, we are snowed in. The Monkeys didn't have school today and thus, my home that was 90% clean yesterday is now a big, fat, stinky mess. I may cry. No really, I might. I have a load of laundry in the washer. The washer is finished. The dishes in the dishwasher are clean. I did part of about 3 workouts. I lack anything that looks like motivation. I lack anything that sounds like motivation. I lack a desire to do anything at all. Oh dear, this is horrible.

Where does this all stem from? Well the 5:40 am wake up call that school was canceled was the first step. The lack of sleep from this point on was step 2. Monkey-3 waking up at 6:30 was step 3. RS going out to shovel the driveway at 6:40 was step 4. The boy Monkeys getting up at 7:00 was step 5. And I stopped counting at this point. Monkey-3 being a tearful mess was step 1,000,000. I have them down for a nap and I'm sitting hear thinking about going to put the laundry in the dryer!

I'm thankful for the time I get to spend with my children, but sometimes I really, really love the times when they are in school and not forcing me to be the mean one. I like my clean house. I miss my clean house. My Monkeys don't understand the value of a clean house. I can't wait to listen to them complain about their unclean houses someday. I'm going to laugh and laugh and laugh. Then I will look at my clean house, unmussed by three Monkeys, and snuggle with the Rocket Scientist.

Thursday 1/27

Another Thursday, another busy morning.

  • Jillian's upside down abs, started thighs, but didn't want to be without my thighs when I have so much to do today. I realize this is kind a low impact day but I have a cold and I'm trying to keep myself active but not over do it.
  • vacuumed the basement (and thanks to RS and the Monkeys I didn't have to pick up anything!)
  • Facebook farmed
  • 2 boy Monkeys to school
  • 1 Monkey returned home
  • Sam's shopping done (except for more dog food and hamburger)
  • Dark laundry ~ washed, dried, in a basket

Still have things to do and have to be at work at 6 tonight. And I'm skipping the little Monkeys nap because I don't feel like fighting it. Maybe I'll give them a nap tomorrow!

Wednesday 1/27

So the RS is amazing! We have been waiting, and waiting on a life insurance check only to find that it had gotten lost, well not lost, sent to the wrong address in the wrong city, and even the wrong state! GRRRR! RS got it all figured out and ta-da, the check is on its way. At least we hope it is this time!

  • Three Monkeys to school, two back home again thanks to RS
  • Wonder Dog, Sam, to the vet and back home again
  • Facebook farm ~ farmed
  • cleaned the kitchen
  • White clothes ~ washed, dried, folded, put away
  • workout ~ some thigh thing and part of Jillian's standing abs (not wise to try to do after a thigh thing)
  • getting ready to head into work to help out for someone else even though I'm not available on Wednesday. So nice of me, I know
  • made a hair appointment to have my hair colored again February 10th! So excited!
Today is Sonic day, so we have an errand to run and then to Sonic before I head off to work for a few hours.

10:08 pm Update

  • brush teeth (morning, just forgot to put it on this morning)
  • dishwasher ~ emptied, reloaded
  • brush teeth
  • floss teeth
  • worked at the Y
Watching a show with the hubby and then off to sleepy land.

Tuesday 1/26

Just a little clean up from yesterday. I ended up skipping flossing. It was a last minute change in my day. The last few days, due to a cold that has me a little phelmy, flossing has made me a little gaggy. So I skipped it last night. I'll get back at it tonight.

Today has been exhausting already. The boy Monkeys share a room and got up at 6:40 am. Ugh! Thank goodness it is Tuesday and nap day for the little Monkeys!

  • Workout ~ 6 Round Slim Down On Demand*
  • Light laundry ~ washed, drying
  • dishwasher ~ emptied, refilled
  • living room ~ cleaned up, vacuumed
  • Bedrooms ~ cleaned up, vacuumed
* So I'm getting tired of Jillian. I just couldn't take her today (not the workout, the actual Jillian who says the same thing day in and day out. So I tried something different. Longer than 20 minutes, and different, and a nice break from Jillian. I'm sure I'll do Shred again tomorrow, but I'm looking at alternating some different workouts in the Shred so I don't get bored. Then in the spring I will start walking outside with the Wonder Dog, Sam.

8:45 Update:

  • dishwasher ~ full, washed, emptied (with a little help from the RS) and filled again
  • light laundry ~ folded and put away
  • pancakes made and eaten by the family
I know I'm forgetting stuff, but I have no clue about what it was.

Monday 1/25

I feel like I have skimped on telling the whole trust and nothing but the truth so help me God. While I have been truthful about what I am doing (and not doing) I have not told you the EVERYTHING about what really goes on. So today I will. Be prepared to have a lot to read.

  • Woke up, watched Monkey-1 get in the shower, should have been more on top of things as he was in there for 15 minutes or so and hadn't even washed his hair!
  • Got Monkey-3 in the shower and washed her hair and left her to wash her body. Told Monkey-2 to get ready to get in the shower.
  • Monkey-3 got out of the shower and off to the other bathroom for her blow dry.
  • Got breakfast for the Monkeys, made lunch for Monkey-1, and filled the dishwasher with dirty dishes, put dark laundry in the washer.
  • Got Monkey-1 on the bus to school. Told Monkey-2 and Monkey-3 to get socks, shoes, and school stuff together.
  • Put dark laundry in the drier and the towels in the washer.
  • Dropped off Monkey-2 at 8:45, dropped off Monkey-3 at 9 am.
  • Arrived home, Shred, Level 2, Day 19.
  • Facebook Farmed (yes, I have issues)
  • Cleaned all three bathrooms.
  • Took dark laundry out of the drier and put the towels in. Folded the dark laundry and put it away.
  • Picked up Monkey-2 and Monkey-3 from preschool at 11:30. Got lunch for RS and myself at Subway, came home and made the kids Mac and Cheese.
  • Got the towels out of the drier, folded, and put them away.
Then I sat down and that is my problem. I need to brush my teeth, get in the shower and get ready to go to work this evening.

  • turned on a Veggie Tales show for the littles and brushed my teeth and took a shower.
  • filled the dishwasher and washed the dishes
  • took some pictures of the kids in the light from the front door
  • edited some pictures I have been needing to edit for the family blog
  • blogged Valentine's day rejects of Monkey-2
  • got raviolis out for the children and RS for dinner
  • dressed for work
  • watched Jeopardy (it is my educational show of the day for myself)
I'm waiting for Monkey-1 to get off the school bus and I see him now. Back after work!

Home from work. It was crazy, really, really crazy.

  • Went to work.
  • Home and discovered that I never turned on the dishwasher. Oops! RS turned it on. Dishes washing.
  • RS made me a cookie! Cause he rocks!!
  • watching the KU-MU basketball game.
  • brush teeth
  • floss teeth
  • go to bed
Do you see why I leave out stuff? I still had some free time, so that is positive. Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays are always the mornings with the most to do because all three Monkeys have to have showers before school.

Sunday 1/24

Another relaxing day with the family. The kids are playing nicely downstairs and will be cleaning up this afternoon!

  • Shred, Day 18, Level 2
  • brushed teeth
  • refilled dishwasher and washed them
  • Sonic (and they got it right today)
  • Lunch at Taco Grande!!!
I stayed up way to late waiting for RS to get home from poker. The kids were asleep, my movie was over, and I was trying to wait up, but ended up giving up only a few minutes before he arrived home. Oh well. Back to the grind tomorrow, so I'll enjoy today with my family.

Saturday, January 23, 2010

Saturday 1/23

Oh anther weekend. This is a great one because we have no plans. No birthday parties to attend or to hostess, no plans to do anything other than watch some KU basketball and spend time as a family. We love the Jayhawks! Rock Chalk!

  • Day 17, Shred, Level 2

Okay, so far I haven't been very productive. Need to get moving and get some things done today, but so far, I have only completed my Shred for the day.

1:55pm Update

Watching basketball with the hubby and planning an excursion to World Market and SuperTarget after the game ends! YEAH!

  • teeth brushed
Holy cow! I would have thought I had done more. Dang.

7:03 pm Update
  • went to Target to buy milk and World Market to get a bamboo rug for Photography
  • Sonic (and they messed up my drink, I wanna cry)
  • dishwasher ~ emptied by RS and refilled after dinner
  • created a wonderful dinner for the family
  • watching a movie with the kids while the Rocket Scientist is off playing poker

Friday, January 22, 2010

Friday 1/22

Another fun day. Monkey-3 had Grandparents day at preschool this morning. It basically meant a shorter morning for the kids. Then we got to go out to lunch with my parents. Yeah for Freddy's Frozen Custard!

Monkey-1 went off to school with his time line in tow. He will be home late this evening because he was invited to the skating party with one of his friends from school. So he will be getting off the bus with his friend and off to the skating party! Fun!

  • Day 16, Shred, Level 2
  • Light laundry ~ washed, dried, in a basket
  • dishwasher ~ "chirp, chirp"
  • brushed teeth
I'm sure I'll be back soon with a list of all the things I have accomplished! Or something like that!

7:40 pm Update

This day has been quite nice for me. I feel like I haven't done much, but at the same time I got some things accomplished! Which makes me feel better. I'm planning on doing yoga tonight. I'm hopeful that I'll be able to. It helps me to sleep when I'm more relaxed.

  • Laundry ~ folded, put away
  • kids valentine's ~ created and ready to be sent to the printer
  • balanced the checking account
  • Sonic (bad Sara, but I'm not feeling my best, it is my excuse)
  • water
  • talked a friend into calling it a night early and out of selling her children on ebay or craigslist

10:30 pm Update

  • Yoga
  • teeth brushed
  • teeth flossed

Thursday, January 21, 2010

Thursday 1/21

I'm really not in the mood to do much of anything today. I'll be amazed if anything gets done. Monkey-1's school bus didn't arrive this morning so in addition to getting Monkey-2 to preschool, I had to rush to get Monkey-1 to school on time. And just so ya know, their school are not anywhere near each other. But they are both at school and on time, so that is good news.

  • Day 15, Shred, Level 2
  • Dark Laundry ~ going upstairs to put it in the washer
  • Dishes ~ will empty after starting laundry
  • will brush teeth after emptying the dishwasher
See, I'm so very behind this morning! So not happy about this lack of motivation this morning. Need to get moving. But at least I did my shred this morning! That is something, cause I really wanted to skip it.

1:30 pm Update:
  • Dark Laundry ~ washed, dried folded, will be put away after nap
  • dishwasher ~ emptied and refilled
  • teeth brushed
  • 3 batches of glitter playdough made
  • kitchen mostly back to normal
Still lacking much motivation, but things are getting done. Getting ready to watch the neighbor girl and then into the shower and getting ready for work at the Y this evening.

9:30 pm Update:

  • Dark laundry ~ put away
  • worked at the Y
  • brushed teeth
  • flossed

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Wednesday 1/20

Does it seem like time has flown by and that it can't already be the 20th of January? Maybe it is just me, but it seems like the month is flying by.

  • Subbed at preschool
  • cleaned the kitchen
  • White Laundry - washed, dried; folded and put away by the RS
  • printed pictures for Monkey-1's time line project
  • water
  • dishwasher - filled, washed, emptied (by Monkey-2 and Monkey-3), refilled, washing
  • vacuumed basement *
  • vacuumed living room**
  • made dinner for family and then for Bunco friends
  • played bunco
  • cleaned up the basement
  • brushed teeth
  • flossed
* This is a Thursday activity, but since I am this month's Bunco hostess I have to have the house clean. So that meant vacuuming the basement a day early.
** Usually I vacuum the living room after cleaning the kitchen because all the dirt from the kitchen is tracked into the living room when the family comes in through the garage. This is normal.

No working out today. With subbing at Preschool and Bunco, I don't have time to take a second shower!

Tuesday 1/19

Monkey-1 has an in-service day from school so he is home to play with Monkey-3 while Monkey-2 is at school this morning! Also to help get some stuff done. Always good to have an extra helper!

  • Day 14, Shred, Level 2
  • Light laundry- washed, dried, folded, put away
  • Sheets - changed on all 4 beds, washed, dried, folded, put away
  • water, water, water
  • living room and three bedrooms vacuumed
  • teeth brushed
  • dishwasher - washed, emptied, reloaded
  • dinner made, fed to family, and cleaned up
  • Made rough draft of Monkey-1's life timeline.
Goal for today is to get the pictures taken for the Monkeys Valentine's Day cards for school. Each year I make them picture Valentine's day cards for their classmates. So today, we try to get the pictures taken since I don't have to work and all three will be home and hopefully well rested after nap time!

Second goal for the day, keep my sanity. Highly likely this will not happen as Monkey-1 has decided to push every single button I have. I'm trying to breathe deeply and move on, but it is very trying!

Monday, January 18, 2010

Monday 1/18

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! Today all three monkeys were home from school. Such fun!

  • Day 13 (yesterday was 12, I was off a day), Shred, Level 2 - Getting better, still need to work on this level
  • Kids Book Group
  • Cleaned all 3 bathrooms
  • emptied the dishwasher
  • washed, dried, folded, and put away dark laundry
  • washed, dried towels and bath mats **Finished by the RS
  • brushed teeth
  • worked in the kidzone
The monkeys had a playdate with our friends after book group so I had a little time this afternoon to get stuff done while they played with friends we don't get to see all that much anymore because of school. It was wonderful for them, and a nice chance for me to get things done around the house.

Sunday, January 17, 2010

Sunday 1/17

Well so far I have accomplished nothing! I forgot to brush my teeth this morning and every time I have remember I was about to eat or not at home. Oh dear.

Major SNAFU at work today, which I feel horrible about. At least my boss was very understanding and I hope that everything will work out for the best.

  • Day 13, Shred, Level 2*
  • Worked a wall/pool birthday party at the Y
  • put up new blinds over the kitchen sick (okay, so the RS (Rocket Scientist) did the putting up, I did the shortening and making sure they still work)
  • Sonic Cherry Coke (bad Sara)

*Okay, so I haven't been feeling my best today. My head has been bordering on a migraine (which for me is less pain and more a sick to my stomach feeling and a dull ache in my head). So this mornings shred was shortened by 3 minutes. I stopped when I about tossed my cookies while doing the last section of Cardio. So I stopped and came upstairs. Like I said I haven't been feeling my best today. Here's hoping sleep will make it all better.

Saturday, January 16, 2010

Saturday 1/16

Ah, Saturday, no laundry, no cleaning (well, other than just minor pick up), and this Saturday happens to be date night! YEAH!

Things I have learned this morning. Sweating hurts when you have been using the strong acne products. OUCH! Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred, Level 2 is a challenge. And I should have previewed it before trying to work out today. My children really can follow directions, mostly.

  • Day 11, Shred, Level 2
  • brushed teeth
  • ran to Target for Kleenex and birthday present
  • took Monkey-1 to birthday party
  • went on date with Rocket Scientist
  • brushed teeth
  • flossed
  • water, water, water
  • Cherry Coke with extra ice
  • visited Cocoa Dolce

Well I guess that is all I have gotten done so far today! Be back later!

Friday, January 15, 2010

Friday 1/15

I think I will start this earlier in the day and just add on as the day goes on. Much easier than trying to remember what all I did at the end of the day.

  • Shred Level 1, Day 10
  • Teeth brushed
  • paid bills
  • laundry - washed, dried, folded, and put away
  • dishes - filled, washed
  • shopping for Bunco
  • water, water, water
  • ready for work at the Y - Worked at the Y
  • Picked up Monkey-1 from 1st grade
  • Pilates
  • Stopped at Sonic
  • Teeth brushed and flossed
Today's goal is to avoid going to Sonic because I don't need it. I'm tired and would love to stop at Sonic for a caffeine infusion, but that would be bad. Although I might be able to avoid going on Sunday since I have to work a birthday party and I could simply exchange today for Sunday. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Friday is organization day in my world. Paying bills, organizing things that have been left lying around, just about anything that I need to get done. Most of the time this is a light housework day. I also like to clean out the fridge and freezer on this day when I have massive monthly shopping to do. And just to put it out there. I'm still not very organized, even if I have a whole day devoted to it!

10:30 Update: Stopped at Sonic. It certainly helped me to have more energy while at work, but I wonder if I could have done without. Too late now. But good to know for future reference.

Thursday, January 14, 2010

Thursday 1/14

  • Dark laundry washed, dried, folded, and put away.
  • Dishwasher washed and unloaded
  • Basement picked up and vacuumed
  • Side basement project: Bookshelves reorganized
  • Vacuumed the living room
  • Shred Day 9
  • Pilates
  • Teeth brushed twice
  • Teeth flossed
  • Worked at the Y in the Kidzone
Normal Thursday for me! Busy day!

Welcome to the Blog!

So I started doing this on Facebook, and honestly it worked. I simply wrote down all the things I do in a day. While I certainly don't do as much as some other people, I'm trying to keep myself busy and do all the things that I need to do in my life. I don't aim to make anyone feel bad, just to record and help keep me accountable for what I need to get done in one day.

A little about me. I'm Sara. I'm married to the Rocket Scientist. Mom to 3 monkeys. Monkey-1 is 7 and in 1st grade. Monkey-2 is 5 and in Pre-K (half day, 5 days a week). Monkey-3 is 3 and in preschool (half-day, 3 days a week). We live a lovely life in Kansas, USA. We own our own home and have been fortunate to avoid the laid off curse of so many people in our part of the world.

I've been extremely lucky and have been at home with the monkeys since Monkey-1 was born. But I'm not sure the stay-at-home mom label fits anymore. While I certainly don't have to go to work and leave my children in child care, I do have a job, or jobs. I work birthday parties a few weekends a month at the local YMCA. I also work in the Kidzone at the YMCA a few evenings a week to keep my children in preschool and give us a little extra cash. I sub at Monkey-2 and Monkey-3's preschool as needed. And those are just the jobs I get paid to do. I am a mom with a camera who often offers to take pictures of friends families. I often agree to watch the neighbor kids to help their mom out. I'm in charge of my Bunco group. Basically, you name it I'll try to take it on!

So what is the point of this blog. To give me a place to be accountable for all the things I want to accomplish in 2010 but don't want to make all my friends on Facebook feel like they are not doing enough. I just need a place to share my thoughts and feelings on my life with the rest of the world (or myself since who knows it anyone will read this). I have a family blog and I have a photography blog, but this is more a daily blog for myself to keep myself in check!

What is on my 2010 to-do list?

  • Lose 40 lbs
  • Keep the house cleaner
  • Keep up with the laundry
  • Drink water
  • Brush and Floss my teeth and the Monkeys teeth
  • Keep my sanity!
Only the last one is really in question! I welcome comments, criticism, funny life stories, and just about anything you would like to share with me. And please don't aspire to be like me. I just need to face the fact that I need to be a better wife, mother, and person, so this is my start!
